REBECCA HORVEY

Rebecca grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she began dancing at a young age.  What started as an attempt to keep warm in the winter, quickly grew into a lifetime love of movement and the stage.  Starting in Tap and Jazz, she quickly rose to the top of the class and won 1st prize for her tap solo at the age of 9.  Opening herself up to more styles and teachers, she did most of her training at KickIt Dance Studio where she danced competitively in Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Ballet, and Musical Theatre.  It was there that Rebecca first started teaching and assisting dance classes for all ages and levels.

She attended three world dance competitions (Hip Hop/2007/Germany, Tap/2008/Germany, Hip Hop/2009/Poland), traveled to LA each summer to train at The Edge and Millennium, and won the first place scholarship in the senior devision at Triple Threat Dance Convention.  Rebecca also had the privilege of working at Rainbow Stage in their professional production of 'Beauty and the Beast' where she was one of the youngest ensemble dancers.

After high school, Rebecca attended the Canadian College of Arts in Victoria BC where she competed the three year ‘Company C’ program. Rebecca was one of the top dancers in the college and a quick study when it came to voice and acting.  She was dance captain for nearly every performance opportunity and did a choreography mentorship as well.

Rebecca relocated to Toronto after college where she continued to train and teach.  She had the amazing opportunity to work for Koba Entertainment on three cross Canada tours (Bubble Guppies, The Great Big Show, Bubble Guppies) and one US national tour (Shopkins Live).  Another highlight was working at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope where she played Shprintze in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’.

Always ready to hit the studio with some good music and a cup of coffee, Rebeccas passion for dance and teaching continues to grow. "Thanks QBC!"
