LINDSAY CROXALL

Lindsay began performing at a very young age in Community theatre (Theatre Ancaster), first as a dancer and then as a singer and then as a solo vocalist.  Her professional debut was in 2001 at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland as a “Super-Swing” (lead singer/dancer) and dance Captain.  She was nominated for “Best Female Performer” in the “Big E! Entertainment Awards” for her outstanding work at Wonderland, placing 2nd overall in the world.

Lindsay is a proud Music Theatre B.F.A. Graduate of the University of Windsor in Ontario.  Among other roles, she was most honoured to play the role of “The Witch” in “Into the WOods” in her final season there.

Since graduating, Lindsay has been privileged to travel the world, seeing more than 80 countries, while performing on board world-cruising ships.  She was a lead production performer for Celebrity cruises, but really had a great pleasure performing as a solo Cabaret artist abroad Silverseas Cruise Lines.  Lindsay also conceived, co-wrote, produced, and performed in asuccessful two-woman Broadway revue in her hometown, Ancaster, Ontario.

Most recently, Lindsay has worked consistently for both Mirvish Productions (original Canadian cast member of “We Will Rock You!” where she had the thrill of a lifetime performing live onstage with Rock Legends Brian May & Roger Taylor of QUEEN) and for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, performing roles in “Cabaret”, “West Side Story”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, “Kiss Me Kate” and “Evita!”.  Recently, Lindsay was thrilled to get to play the role of “Eva Peron” eight times in the Stratford 2010 season on the Avon stage.

Second only to performing, Lindsay has a great passion or teaching performing arts to people of any age!  As a teenager, she started teaching dance at studios she was trained at (Pure Rhythm, Ancaster School Dance, Dance N’ Style). And at the tender age of 18, she formed her own performing arts summer camp (Stage 2) in Ancaster, Ontario with the help of the local community theatre group, Theatre Ancaster.  She was responsible for teaching, directing, choreography and co-writing performances for each session.  Although Lindsay had to leave her place at the summer camp behind in order to pursue her own performing career, she is proud to say that the program is still going strong and has now grown into a popular all-year training program for youth of all ages in Ancaster and the surrounding communities.

Lindsay has never stopped teaching performance arts, even through her own performance career.  She loves to teach workshops and classes, and has done so for high schools, dance schools, community centres and for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.  She has aspirations of running her own performance arts studio one day, possibly back where she started, in her home town of Ancaster.

“There is something special about passing the torch;  passing the love of performing down to another generation of hopeful and enthusiastic entertainers!  It’s a goal of mine to inspire at least one person in each class to want to pursue dance or theatre in their lives.  I also find great joy in watching the faces of kids light up when they finally ‘get it’ or understand that they can do something really well that they thought they couldn’t do before.  Most often, I find more satisfaction in teaching than I do performing myself!”
