JULIA LECLERC
Julia began her dance journey at age 2 in her local dance studio in Whitby and has been hooked ever since. She has studied multiple different genres of dance such as tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, acro, musical theatre, song and dance, and partnering.
Upon getting more heavily involved in the tap dance community, she has had the opportunity to train and perform numerous times with Toronto Rhythm Initiative, the Tap Dance Centre, the Canadian National Tap Team and Rhythm & Sound Productions. Her most recent credits include participating in the International Tap Dance Festival’s tap dance residency under the direction of Allison Toffan, Tanya Knights and Broadway choreographer, Ted Louis Levy, where she had the opportunity to work with a live big band. She performed alongside some of Ontario’s best tap dancers as part of a new work, commissioned by Allison Toffan, in the Toronto Dusk Dances festival. Julia teaches at multiple studios across the GTA and her choreography has won various choreography and judges choice awards.
Julia is a recent grad of Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance Program where she extensively studied dance, vocal and acting from some of the top theatre professionals in the industry. With her love of teaching being so prevalent in her life, she is completing her Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University and hopes to implement the knowledge she gains there in both school and dance classrooms.
