JOYCE FU
Joyce is a Hip Hop Performer and Choreographer based in the GTA and Markham area. Her love for the performing arts began at the young age of 4 years old, training in Ballet at the Nancy Chiu Ballet Studio in Markham. It wasn’t until much later that she ventured out and learned other styles of dance, such as Jazz and Tap Dance. Joyce’s continued search brought her to her ultimate love of hip hop and urban movement and has been an active member of VYbE Dance Company since 2010. She trained in VYbE’s advanced team, VYbE fX, for 3 years before eventually training in the professional teams, VYbE PRO and L.O.V.E. Throughout that time, she also participated in the Sunshine Generation competition hosted by Fairchild Radio Toronto and won the title of “Sunshine Girl 2011” with her infectious smile and hip hop moves. In addition, she placed 1st with L.O.V.E. in the A1 Talent Competition in 2013 and 2014, 3rd with her VYbE PRO team in Beatdown 2013 and Best Theme awards for Beatdown 2015 and Urban Rumble 2017.
Joyce has had the pleasure of performing internationally, across the world in Macau, China with her dance team, L.O.V.E.. She also works very closely with Fairchild Radio Toronto, performing in their annual Chinese New Year Gala and Singing Competitions that are broadcasted across Canada. Joyce has also trained and worked with creatives such as Andrew “Pyro” Chung (Footnotes), Mariano “Glizzi” Abarco (Footnotes), Jojo “Zolina”, Tamina-Pollock Paris (The Girls’ Club), Leon Blackwood, Angela Mahoney (The Cast: Heels Edition), and Monica Gold (FYF). Her corporate performances include Loblaws, Toronto Ribfest, T&T Night Market, Night It Up! And others.
Joyce is currently a faculty member at VYbE Dance Company, teaching her weekly drop-in “Femme Hip Hop” and creates choreography based on hip hop fundamentals with a feminine flare to it. Joyce is also currently attending the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) Class of 2020 and is hoping to merge her love for dance and movement with the philosophy of health and wellbeing together. She believes that movement is truly healing for the soul and is eager to learn more about the body and the stories it can tell. When Joyce isn’t in the studio, she is a fond lover of downward dogs and can be found riding her Ninja across the city!
