GINO BERTI

Gino Berti has been fortunate enough to have been associated with an extensive variety of Musical Theatre, Industrial, Concert, Television and Film productions involving various styles of choreography and staging.

Some of Gino’s accomplishments include choreographing the world premiers of the Legends Series, starting with “Twist and Shout”, "Legends of Rock and Roll", “Country Legends”, “Dance Legends”, “Big Band Legends”, “Legends of Harmony”, and "Canadian Legends".  Gino's original choreography for the Toronto Fringe Festival's Andy Warhol in Rehearsal was received with great acclaim. Gino has also remounted numerous productions of the original Broadway choreography of “CATS”, including Toronto’s latest revival at the Panasonic, as well as choreographing numerous productions of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Forever Plaid”.  Other credits include "Wizard of Oz", "Snow White, The Panto", “Les Miserables”,  “Annie”, “9 to 5 the Musical”, “Hairspray”, “Brigadoon”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, “My Fair Lady”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, The Goh Ballet, and The Miss Universe Canada Pageant, where he is the resident choreographer and co-director.  In addition, he was the associate choreographer and associate artistic director of the Margo Perry Dance Bank Company (Ballet Jazz concert style) for approximately ten years, as well as the Artistic Director for “Dare to Dance” in Saskatchewan.  Gino has also been involved as an associate choreographer with Disney Cruiselines.

Gino has been Resident Dance Captain and Fight Captain to many Mega Musicals such as Elton John’s and Tim Rice’s pre Broadway “Aida”, “Beauty and the Beast” (where he was sent to Broadway to train Dance Captains for their future productions), “Miss Saigon”, “Brigadoon”, “Guys & Dolls”, “Evolution of Jazz”, “Forum”, “Mame”, and “The T.O. Hot Shoe Show”.

Other productions include the Charlottetown Festival’s “Anne of Green Gables”and “The Great Adventure” (World Premier), the Canadian Opera Company’s “The Merry Widow”, and the Toronto productions of “CATS”, “The Wizard of Oz”, and “A Chorus Line”.

Gino has choreographed such filmwork as Miss World Nicaragua Pageant Realty Show, True Luv, Behind the Dress, TVO’s Unsung - Behind the Glee, Del Torro’s Mama, and assisted inCanadian Idol, Deal or No Deal Canada, and Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Gino has had the pleasure of setting and work shopping new pieces at numerous universities and schools of the arts, as well as adjudicating competitions across the country.  He has also had the opportunity to work with such artists as Deborah Cox, Michael J. Fox, Howie Mandell, Nelly Furtado, Amanda Marshall, Heather Hadley, Gordon Thompson, Bob Avion, Nick Heitner, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Shonberg, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (of Game of Thrones), Tim Rice, Elton John, Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, and Jared Leto.
