BRANDI FERIERA
Brandi Ferreira began dancing at the Denise Lester Dance Academy at age three where her passion and love quickly grew for the art form. She completed exams every year, working towards and eventually attaining her Teaching Associates in Ballet, Modern, Acro, and Stage under the British Association Teachers of Dance. As a competitive dancer she won many overalls, scholarships, and top marks of competitions with her solos, which encouraged her to continue studying in dance. She was accepted into York University Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honors in Dance program, where she studied numerous techniques, took both pedagogy & kinesiology courses, and was given many opportunity to work with different choreographers and perform. Since graduating in 2009, Brandi has been teaching dance and giving workshops in both elementary and high schools as well as in dance studios.
Since graduating, she has choreographed and performed in various shows around Toronto including Lab Cab Festival, Nook & Crandi (2009), Masonry Awards, ///Omen (2010), Dance Ontario Dance Weekend at Harbourfront, City Dance Corps (2011), Smile for a Cure, Body Language (2011), After Now, The Things I Love (2011), and a showing for Keiko Kitano in Soldier Dance (2012). In the summer on 2010 she studied under David Earle at his summer dance intensive (Guelph Ontario), as well as taking a Matwork course with STOTT Pilates. She is currently a company member with Dance Migration where she rehearses and performs Samba, and is enjoying being immersed in a new cultural dance. She currently teaches technique classes as well as choreography classes in the Durham region and is studying at York University in the Bachelor of Education program to eventually become a high school teacher. Brandi is happily settling into a career where she feel excited, engaged, and passionate about both working with youth and dance.
