ALY MCKENZIE
Aly started dancing at The Dance Extensioin Etobicoke, Ontario training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Acro. At age 11 she was accepted into Canada’s National Ballet School where she continued her training for seven years. While at Canada’s National Ballet School, Aly performed works by Aszure Barton, Robert Binet, and Peggy Baker. She also performed in The Nutcracker as Marie with The National Ballet of Canada. After graduating from NBS, Aly followed her dreams of moving to New York City and attended The Ailey School for the Scholarship Program. At The Ailey School Aly had the chance to continue her training in Modern, Ballet, Improvisation, and Partnering with some legendary teachers. While in New York, Aly was invited to join “Dance As Art” The New York Photography project as one of the company’s models.
Aly McKenzie’s television credits include Family Channel’s Backstage and The Next Step as well as The CW Network’s REIGN and Bell Media/BBC America’s Orphan Black.
Most recently Aly completed her first season as a Radio City Rockette for the Christmas Spectacular. She has been interviewed for Town & Country Magazine and WNBC as well as participated in meet and greets at Magnolia Bakery, WPLJ Radio Station, The Garden of Dreams Foundation and performed in the 90th Annual Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Performing with the Radio City Rockettes was an unreal experience. It was an honour to join such an inspiring, talented and hardworking group of women and perform for thousands of people at the iconic Radio City Music Hall!”
Aly has always loved to pass along her knowledge and training of dance to others and hopes to inspire young dancers to follow their dreams. Her skill set and training along with her positive, fun, outgoing and energetic personality make you definitely want to take her class again!
